MOTIVATION DIRECTION

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

I can get so overwhelmed when  starting any project.  Whether it be painting a room in my house, starting to date again,  handling my finances etc.  My experience has been that when I get tired enough of just thinking about “it” - the action begins.  It’s interesting however - the layers of this thought process…  I have gotten to the point where I am tired of getting tired as my source of motivation.   I hope that makes sense.   I will say it again. I AM TIRED OF “GETTING TIRED” AS MY SOURCE OF MOTIVATION.  One of the principles I support my clients on is:  Are you moving AWAY from something/someone to motivate you - OR - are you moving TOWARD what you want to motivate you?  Most of the time when I feel overwhelmed it is because I am moving away from what I don’t want.  I don’t want my office to be cluttered anymore - I must clean it.   I don’t want to have my bills pile up - I must pay them.  But look at what I am motivating myself with…  All the things I DON’T WANT.   What is the big picture?  I want to be in a working environment that is peaceful, organized, and serves as a place of presence.  I want to be current on all my bills and have them paid in a timely fashion.  This is me MOVING TOWARD my motivation

When I learned this principle, it changed my life.  I realized that being tired of something is MOVING AWAY from.  I learned that looking forward to something is MOVING TOWARD.  So if you are starting a project today, pay attention to your thoughts.  Are you moving away from or towards?

Have a beautiful day !

Happy Receiver

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

What does this phrase mean to you? To me it used to mean something sexual. Today, I have learned that the phrase means exactly what it says. Happily Receiving…. to happily receive without strings attached. To receive unconditionally with no payback; not owing a thing. Receiving just because you are loved and someone wants to do something nice for you just because. Isn’t that beautiful? I think so.

So how come it is so hard for me to be a HAPPY RECEIVER? I go on a date and I feel compelled to pull out my wallet. I go to a dinner party and I am the first one offering to help set-up, prepare and clean up in order for the hostess to enjoy herself. A friend is getting married and I am the first one to offer my house for the bridal shower. I love being of service to others, but when someone wants to do those things in return for me - I feel so terribly uncomfortable.

What comes up for me? I have to go deeper into the uncomfortable feeling.

This is where the work starts….
