What does HAPPINESS mean to you?

November 26th, 2008

I feel so happy this morning.    Someone very dear to me has been sober for 8 months now and got this amazing opportunity to work in the job of his dreams overseas.  I have to admit - I was so worried about him staying sober.  It was my focus.  I journaled last night knowing I had to change the way I was looking at the situation.  I started to write about all the amazing opportunities that awaited him.  It is so layered and so chock full of goodness.  Experiencing a new culture, meeting new people, healing broken ties as a result of addiction AND doing all this through sober eyes!!!  I went to sleep last night hopeful and excited for him.  This morning I woke up and received the greatest email from him saying he was a happy and sober man enjoying the luxuries of business class and the business class lounge at Heathrow airport.  THIS IS HAPPINESS!  I can hope for all the money in the world - the greatest status there is - the most cut body I can conjure up in my brain…  However, it is moments like this that show me what true Happiness is.  Now don’t get me wrong…  The money, status, and kick ass body are all good.  I don’t negate these desires or any other desires we may have.   But when those desires become the focus of our happiness is when we get ourselves in trouble.  Happiness comes from inside.  Happiness comes from giving, caring and sharing your life with people you love and people who can use your help.   What is your definition of HAPPINESS?  Please share and have a wonderful DAY OF THANKS with those around you. M

What you focus on gets BIGGER!!!!

Have you ever felt that life was dealing you pretty sh*%y cards???  I invite you to think back on a time where you felt like “MURPHY” and the “LAW” was in full affect.  Take a moment to think (insert some game show music)…   What were your thoughts?  Were they congruent with the quality of your life???   Don’t you find that your STATE OF MIND dictates the situations in your life?  I certainly do.   Your thoughts are powerful and will guide your life.  Let me tell you a personal story .   A few years ago when I was transitioning from working as an Assistant Director in TV to a full time Coach my finances were impacted greatly.  As an AD I was making a 6 figure salary and that was not the case once I transitioned.  For awhile I was living off my savings and the little money I was making while establishing a clientele.   After some time, the savings dwindled and my anxiety escalated.  I woke up mostly every morning wondering how I was going to pay the mortgage, the prop tax, the DWP bill etc.  I would add up the totals in my head and compare it to my checking account and FOCUSED on how they didn’t match up.  I did this for a long time.  The more I focused on the deficit - the larger the deficit became.  Now I know you all have heard about the Law of Attraction and for a long time my understanding of it was this:   If you think about abundance and if you picture yourself in abundance you will receive abundance.  Well that is true in part - but let me share with you an extended version of it so you can start to BELIEVE in abundance.  It is scientifically proven that the human brain has access to over 2 million bits of information per second.  Our CONSCIOUS mind can process approx. 134 bits of that information and dwindling it down some more - consciously we can basically do about  7 things at one time give or take 2 thinks.  So think about this.  2 MILLION bits of information is offered right? If  we can only do 7 things give or take 2,  we should probably choose our bits carefully don’t you agree?  Each of us has what is called INTERNAL REPRESENTATIONS.  These are formed by  past experiences that we unconsciously assign meaning to.  Take my situation for example.  I grew up in an environment where the language was such:  ”Michele you CAN’T have that.”  ”We are STRUGGLING financially and it ISN’T important.”  ”We CAN’T afford it.”  Now that is pretty common language don’t you think?  ”TIMES ARE TOUGH.”  ”THE ECONOMY HAS PLUMMETED.”  We are saturated with those types messages every time we turn on the television or read the paper.  Our  internal representation associates it with deficit.   So as a child that  became my internal representation regarding money.  My association with money was that it was scarce.  I know this to be true because even when I was making over 6 figures I was  struggling.  It turns out that I was spending more - but felt that I NEVER had enough.  Law of Attraction states that if you THINK about the opposite and FEEL the opposite as if it is happening in the present it will come.  Again - partly true.   What I have learned,  and what I have now incorporated into my personal life and coaching practice takes this attraction process  many steps further.  I  go back to a time in my life where I felt let’s say discouraged, disempowered; to a time where things were not serving me.  I associate the visual, the auditory, kinethetic etc.  associated with  that time.  Then with the help of my COACH or another NLP PRACTITIONER,  I am guided to a time where I felt unstoppable, empowered, on fire, or ELATED.  Through a series of exercises the positive experience replaces the negative.  You see, it’s not only about affirming - it is about reprogramming one’s INTERNAL REPRESENTATION of an event.  Once one’s negative internal representation of an event is replace with a positive one, our frame of the 7 bits out of the 2 million are different.  We innately see different bits of information.  That is pretty amazing isn’t it?    It is so exciting, so empowering and so obtainable.   So just try it.  See what happens and call me if you want some guidance.   I am so committed to helping anyone who seeks.  Life is full of possibilities - which one’s are you going to FOCUS on today?
